Synopsis
"The Heroic Legend of Sons and Daughters" (also known as "Chinese Sons and Daughters") is an action, romance, historical, and war drama series directed by Jiang Jiajun, starring Yuen Biao , Alyssa Chia, Ying Cao , You Yong, Ma Yili , Crystal Huang , Andrew Lien , among others. It premiered in mainland China in 1999, with a total of 40 episodes. Set against the backdrop of the martial arts family "Hua Quanyi" in Jinghai County, Tianjin, during the early Republic of China period, the series tells the story of Hua Zhenyang, the son of martial arts prodigy Hua Wuyue, who, under the guidance of the wandering hero Shi Heilong, fights against foreign powers. While venturing alone into the Tianjin Garrison, Hua Zhenyang befriends the patriotic scholar Qi Xueli but develops a feud with Qi's Sino-Japanese adopted son, Qi Xiangzhong. He gains fame by defeating foreign strongmen but becomes deeply entangled in an emotional conflict between Shi Wanting and Wang Furong, ultimately being forced by family pressure to marry Furong. As the Japanese invasion of China expands, Zhenyang establishes the "Jiying Society" to advocate for strengthening the body to save the nation, engaging in a struggle between good and evil with Qi Xiangzhong, who has sided with the Japanese forces. He ultimately defeats his opponent in a direct confrontation. The series portrays the national resistance in the early Republic of China through the intertwining of martial arts heritage and patriotic sentiment.
